Fashion Week

Please scroll down for the English Version

Desfile Ralph Lauren -Revista In Style

Feliz Finde!

I recently read an article on the New York Fashion Weeks. It specially gave a lot of data regarding number of models, total cost of staging each show, how much money was made out of each show… the figures were astronomical! I am sure that when the first fashion shows started no one even dreamed that they would end up being this big, for indeed, the first fashion shows were very modest, and started roughly like this.

According to fashion experts, fashion shows begun in 1943 in the United Status. France was occupied by the Nazis and the American Press, who had always looked at French Fashion for inspiration could no longer travel to Europe to see the latest trends. American Fashion Designers decided then to stage a huge Show in New York City to promote their work. They invited all the press that used to attend French shows to write about them. The event was a huge success, and fashion magazines such as Vogue started to show more American designs and less French designs. This is more or less a brief history of how the New York Fashion Week begun.

However, fashion shows really begun around 1848. That year, a young Paris based British born designer asked Marie Vernet, on of his shop assistants, to walk around the clients showing them how fashionably shawls should be worn. Vernet became the first human model in history and eventually, she became Worth’s wife.

10 years after, Worth opened the first couture house in Paris with live fashion shows for clients, and the rest is history.

Have a lovely weekend!

Dedicated to my Sisters - Para mis Hermanas con Amor

Please scroll down for the English version

Feliz Jueves casi Viernes!

See the trousers in the photo? (they are from Zara by the way). I have always been a fan of that type of pants and worn them during years but I had to stop wearing them because my two sisters used to pick on me and say things like "oh, it looks like if you are wearing Henry VIII's pants" or "you have stolen MC Hammers pants". So today, I would like to say something to the both of them:

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! They are fashionable and the latest trend! I was a visionary and you were not! Ha! But I forgive you, no hard feelings, after all, us fashion divas are used to all kinds of criticism ;-) Big kiss for you lovelies.

Have a lovely Thursday nearly Friday!

UGG!

Fotos de Ugg via here

I have never liked Ugg boots. This is due to two reasons. The first one is that, in my teenage years, growing up in Australia in the late 80’s and early 90’s this type of boots were the uncoolest thing in the Universe. My parents loved them though and bought them for my siblings and I which we only wore at home or, at most, to take the dog out for a walk.

The other reason is that my legs do not match the rest of my (plump) body. They are long and incredibly skinny, so whenever I wear my Uggs I feel like a big bird impersonation.

I have heard that one of the reasons why they have become so fashionable among celebrities is because they have a “slimming” effect. That is, if you wear huge boots, an oversize handbag and tremendous glasses that cover your face, the result is that your body, in contrast with all those gigantic objects looks smaller and thinner. What do you think?

(mi despacho es helador y no he podido resistirlo!).

Feliz Lunes!

The thing is that this year it is freezing cold and I’ve remembered how warm they were, and so, I have overcome my aversion… and I’ve bought myself a pair! Originally, I bought them for being at home and at most, to walk the dog but so far I have worn them to take the kids to school, to go to the park, yesterday I wore them to go to the cinema and today I have worn them to go to work!!! (my office is so cold that I just couldn’t help myself!).

I am so warm and comfy that I am even beginning to find them pretty ;-)

Have a Happy Monday!
